On October 14, Vietnamese Ministry of Justice held the meeting with Lao trainees participating the judgement enforcement training course at Judicial Academy. Minister Ha Hung Cuong, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thuy Hien and leaders of some Ministry’s agencies attended the meeting.

1. On October 1, leaders of Ministry of Justice had a working session with Emulation and Commendation Department on the draft Circular replacing Circular No 07/2006 which guided the work of emulation and commendation in Justice Sector.

To implement the objectives in the first stage of the Project titled “Consolidating, strengthening and enhancing the quality of human resources in legal dissemination and education to meet the requirements of the national renovation and development”, in two days (September 29-30), in Long An province, Ministry of Justice held the training seminar on the legal knowledge and professional skills of legal dissemination and education for legal officials from agencies of People’s Committees in Southern provinces and cities.

On the morning of September 30, Department of Information Technology under Ministry of Justice held the conference titled “building an integrated information system of legal normative documents from central to local levels”. The conference drew attention of information technology experts from various ministries, sectors and businesses.

To serve the task of emulation and commendation in 2010, the local Departments of Justice have to evaluate and rank themselves based on the ranking criteria table, which was signed by Minister of Justice and promulgated together with the Decision No 2448/ QD-BTP on 22 September 2010. This is a new point in the work of emulation and commendation of the Justice Sector in 2010.

The mid-term meeting of the Programme Coordination Groups between Vietnamese Government and the United Nation was held in Hanoi on the afternoon of September 20. Mr Hoang The Lien- Standing Deputy Minister of Justice and Ms Setsuko Yamazaki -UNDP Country Director in Vietnam co-chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were also representatives from the National Assembly, Vietnamese Government, UN’s organisations and other sponsors in Vietnam.

The Department of Justice of Nam Dinh Province, on September 14, held the training course on the legal dissemination and education. Attending the training course were leaders of the provincial Department of Justice and Truc Ninh district’s People’s Committee as well as 120 propagandists on legislation from communes and towns of Truc Ninh district.

On the evening of September 16, Mr Jean Francois Girault, French Ambassador to Vietnam, paid a visit to Ministry of Justice. The Ambassador and Minister Ha Hung Cuong then discussed the matters relating to the bilateral cooperation.

On the morning of September 16th, Ministry of Justice held the conference titled “1000 years of Thang Long- Hanoi with the country’s significant political and legal events” in the main hall of the Temple of Literature. This was an event held to welcome the Great 1000 year anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
