Workshop on draft Decree guiding the law on lawyers

Ministry of Justice on June 01 hosted a Workshop on the draft decree and detailed regulations and enforcement measures of Law on Lawyers related to foreign lawyers. The Workshop attracted the participation of organizations of foreign lawyers in Vietnam, law firms, law offices of Vietnam, representatives from central agencies, local judicial authorities. Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chinh co-chaired this Workshop.
Having Speech at the Workshop, Minister Ha Hung Cuong emphasized that amendments of the Law on Lawyers is important development for lawyers in Vietnam. In spirit of recognition and appreciation of the role and contribution of the lawyers, foreign lawyers' organizations in Vietnam, the Law has provisions to encourage and create favorable conditions for the lawyers and law firms work better. The contents of the Draft Decree provide in detail measures to implement the Law on Lawyers it also inseparable from that purpose. Therefore, the Minister welcomed the frank comments of the participants at the Workshop and wished continue to receive comments from individuals and organizations to soon complete a Decree is the most standards.
Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Lawyers was approved by the National Assembly on 20/11/2012 and is effective from 01/7/2013. Law was amended 08 articles relating to foreign lawyers organizations, foreign lawyers in Vietnam in accordance with Vietnam's commitments to join the World Trade Organization, to facilitate the held foreign lawyers stable operation in Vietnam.
