The second meeting of the Vietnam-Singapore Joint Committee for legal and judicial cooperation

From 21 to 23 September, 2011, the interdisciplinary delegation including representatives of Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security and the People's Supreme Procuracy, led by Standing Deputy Minister of Justice Hoang The Lien, attended the second meeting of the Vietnam-Singapore Joint Committee for legal and judicial cooperation.
At the second meeting, Vietnam’s Deputy Ministry of Justice and co-chairman of the Joint Committee Hoang The Lien highly appreciated the goodwill and results on the legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries in general as well as Vietnam Ministry of Justice and Singapore Ministry of Law in particular, especially since Vietnam and Singapore signed Memorandum of Cooperation on legal and judicial cooperation in 2008.
The minute of the second meeting was then signed by two co-chairmen of the Joint Committee with the witness of representatives of two countries’ related agencies .
After finishing the second meeting, Vietnam delegation had meetings with representatives from reputed law firms of Singapore which were operating or going to open representative offices in Vietnam and Singapore Bar Association.
The delegation also visited Singapore’s Commercial Arbitration Centre and the Supreme Court. Two sides exchanged views on the development and perfection of legal system in Vietnam as well as the challenges that Vietnam, Singapore and other countries in the region are facing./.-ITD
