New Decree on penalties for administrative violations of the laws on statistics

The Government has just issued Decree No. 79/2013/NĐ-CP dated July 19, 2013 on penalties for administrative violations of the laws on statistics.
The Decree specifies the administrative violations, the penalties, and remedial measures for each administrative violation; the powers to impose penalties and fines of certain positions, and the powers to record administrative violations against the law on statistics.
According to the Decree, a fine of from 1,000,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND shall be applied for activities of making statistical reports contrary to the form issued by competent authorities.
Individuals and organisations who fail to make statistical reports and financial statements shall be fined from 10,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND.
Furthermore, a fine of from over 20,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND will be applied in case of propagating false statistical information.
The Decree takes effect on September 05, 2013 and supersedes the Government's Decree No. 14/2005/NĐ-CP dated February 04, 2005 on penalties for administrative violations against the law on statistics.
