Working visit to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands by an Inter-Agency delegation led by Justice Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chinh

On September 09, the inter-agency delegation led by Vice-Minister of Justice Nguyen Duc Chinh began a two-week working visit to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to study and learn about the organization and activities of lawyers in these European two countries.
At the United Kingdom, the Delegation has paid a working visit to Nottingham and London to discuss with leaders of the School of Law, Nottingham Trent University about a joint lawyer training programme. The Delegation also discussed with the United Kingdom Bar Associations and its Law University on mechanisms and models of lawyer training in the UK and discussed with representatives of the Law Firm Clifford Chance on the possibility of sending Vietnamese lawyers to practice law at the offices and representative offices of Clifford Chance in the UK and in Vietnam. In addition, the Delegation have had a day visiting and working with the Center for Dispute Resolution (CEDR) to study its operating mechanisms and the possibility of cooperation with the Center for conducting joint lawyer training programs.
At the Netherlands, the Delegation would have working visits to Amsterdam, the Hague, Rotterdam and Tilburg with Vreij Universiteit, Faculty of Law, Eramus University, the Law firm of Knephout & Kortal, Netherlands’s Bar Association; Netherlands’s Bailiff Professional Organization and President of the International Bailiff Association to discuss the possibility of cooperation with the above mentioned organizations in supporting the operation of the Vietnam Lawyer Training Center for International Economic Integration.
On the first day of the visit, the Delegation has worked with the Nottingham Law School at Nottingham Trent University to discuss the possibility of cooperation in establishing a Pilot Vietnam Lawyer Training Center for International Economic Integration and involvement of potential foreign partners in coordination with Vietnam in conducting training courses at the Center according to Project 123 (Issued together with the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 123/QD-TTg of January 18,2010 of approving the scheme to develop a contingent of lawyers for international economic integration form 2010 to 2020).
The Delegation have working session with Ms. Andrea Nollen, Dean of Nottingham Law School, Ms. Jenny Holloway, Associate Dean at Nottingham Law School and leaders of several schools under the Nottingham Trent University to share about school activities such as: the post-graduate academic programmes in conjunction with practice, graduate professional qualifying programmes, research programmes and joint research - training programmes such as the Law Training Center for Bankruptcy and Business, the Consultancy and Advocacy Skills Training Center...
At the end of this working session, the Delegation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nottingham Law School, according to which the two sides have agreed in principle to continue the exchange of information, research and develop program to train lawyers for international economic integration at the Vietnam Pilot Lawyer Training Center for International Economic Integration and to moves forward to official and permanent cooperation between the Lawyer Training Centre for International Economic Integration under the Vietnam Judicial Academy and the UK Nottingham Law School.
