In the past years, the Ordinance on Handling Administrative Violations of Vietnam 2002 and its guiding documents have largely contributed to effectively preventing and combating administrative violations; created a favorable environment for manufacturing operations and business;  maintained the social stability and order in the context of international integration.

However, after eight years of implementation, the  Ordinance on Handling Administrative Violations of Vietnam 2002 revealed a lot of shortcomings and limitations which required to be urgently addressed. Vietnam is now in the process of  international integration in all fields. Building the law on handling of administrative violations must be compatible with international standards and in accordance with international conventions on the protection of the human rights that Vietnam has signed or acceded to. The comprehensive study to perfect the law in this area is essential to meet the requirements of building, developing and improving the current legal system.

Addressing at the Forum, Standing Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien said that the Law on Handling Administrative Violations is the only project chosen  to support under the one UN pilot project. The delegates at the forum also had a chance to discuss the UN comments on Draft law on handling administrative violations. The Standing Deputy Minister confirmed that the international experiences shared by the UN would be carefully studied and considered during the process of building the draft Law on Handling Administrative Violations./.-ITD
