The 8th ASEAN Law Ministers Meeting (ALAWMM): To promote mutual understanding of ASEAN legal systems

On November 4, the 8th Meeting of ASEAN Law Ministers was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Vietnam’s delegation including representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Public Security, Supreme People's Procuracy led by Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed and decided a number of legal instruments for ASEAN joint implementation towards the establishment of ASEAN community in 2015. In addition, the meeting debated on strengthening mutual judicial assistance in civil and commercial matters among ASEAN member states, the modalities for the harmonization of ASEAN trade law and framework agreement on the conservation of coastal and marine environment. The meeting agreed to hold the 15th ASLOM in Laos in 2013, and the 16th ASLOM and the 9th ALAWMM in Indonesia in 2014.On this occasion, Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong had bilateral meetings with Cambodia's Minister of Justice, Deputy Minister of Justice of Thailand, Secretary to the Prime Minister Office of Malaysia, Justice Minister of Indonesian and PhilippineJustice Minister. The leaders discussed legal issues in the region and other issues of mutual concerns./.-ITD
