President Truong Tan Sang had a working session with the Hanoi Law University

On 25 December 2013, President Truong Tan Sang, who is also Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reforms, had a working session with the Hanoi Law University
The Hanoi Law University, formerly called the Jurisprudence College of Hanoi, was established in November 1979. During the past 34 years, over 80,000 bachelors, 1,100 masters and 118 doctors graduated from the university. Particularly, the university has conducted 17 state-level scientific projects contributing to solving theoretical and practical problems regarding legal teaching, law-making, law execution and judiciary in our country. These achievements gradually make the university a key establishment in training legal officers and conducting legal science.
At the working session, President Sang highly appreciated the rapid development of the university in recent years, which has contributed to the path of socialism building, institutional improvement, institutional and legal reforms. In addition, President Sang said that in the era of integration, especially in response to the Judicial Reform Strategy for 2020, the university not only effectively implements a project to make it a key establishment in training legal officers, but also needs to further develop on par with the others in the region.
In order to do so, President Sang urged the university to implement several solutions. Firstly, the university needs to collaborate closely with agencies including people’s courts, people’s procuracies and justice agencies to attract legal experts with high qualifications and experience to participate in legal training. Secondly, the university must improve the quantity and quality of its lecturers, has policies to encourage and facilitate them to be involved in practical activities such as legal and policy making, legal counseling and legal aid, which will assist them in legal teaching. Finally, the university should improve its joint training in order to train legal officers with higher quality to meet the country’s demand for judicial reforms.
