President Truong Tan Sang had a working session with Party Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Justice

State President Truong Tan Sang, Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, on July 31 worked with the Party Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Justice to review the implementation of the Party Politburo’s resolution on judicial reform (Resolution N.49). Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong, Secretary of the Ministry’s Party Affairs Committee, and other Ministry’s leader attended the working session.
In reviewing the implementation of the Resolution N.49, Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien said that over the past 8 years, the judicial sector has closely directed relevant agencies and localities to fulfill their assigned tasks. He emphasized that 35% of the total 178 laws and ordinances issued between June, 2005 to June, 2013 were directly related to judicial reform. The Ministry of Justice itself compiled 22 our of 23 draft laws and ordinances on the organisation and operation of the judicial sector and involved in the compilation of most laws and ordinances in judiciary sector, thus institutionalising viewpoints and orientations in Resolution 49-NQ/TW. The sector fulfilled its task of making proposals on amendments and supplement to the 1992 Constitution with many contents relating to judicial reform.

However, there are still shortcomings and weaknesses that need to be addressed, such as insufficient regulations in justice and judicial support and civil judgement enforcement as well as the slow development of public legal services in certain fields.
Addressing at the session, President Sang said that, over the past years, Ministry of Jusice has been one of the most important agencies in implementing the Resolution N.49 with lots of active contribution. He also asked the Ministry of Justice to continue collaborating with other relevant agencies in dealing with the shortcomings and shorten the time to implement targets assigned by the Party, State and people in judicial reform.
