Most committee members agreed with the necessity to classify the ranks and grades of procurators.

Chairwoman of the NA Judiciary Committee Le Thi Thu Ba told the session that the People's Procuracies and concerned offices had changed the titles of provincial and district procurators to middle and lower-ranking officials in the draft ordinance.

The committee also approved a resolution concerning the implementation of the ordinance, which will become effective in July.

Regarding supplements and amendments to the Ordinance on Judges and Jurors of the People's Courts, the revised version stipulates that judges in the People's Courts will comprise judges from the Supreme People's Court and Military Court, along with middle and lower-ranking judges. The jurors in the People's Courts will comprise People's Jurors and Army's Jurors.

The NA Standing Committee will decide how many judges will be in the Supreme People's Court and the number of middle and lower-ranking judges according to proposals by the Supreme People's Court's Chief Judge.

Speaking at the closing session, Party General Secretary and NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said officials at the session discussed working reports during the 12th tenure by the State President, the Government, the Director of the Supreme People's Procuracy and the Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court.

Members also discussed draft laws and the Government's report on the country's socio-economic development in 2010, Trong added.

He asked concerned offices to improve the drafts and reports before submitting to the 9th session of the 12th NA which is scheduled to begin on March 21. — VNS
