On 24 June 2016, Minister Le Thanh Long held a working session with the Ha Noi Law University on operation of the University. Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu, Deputy Minister cum Rector of the Ha Noi Law University Le Tien Chau and heads of some units attached to the Ministry attended the working session.
Along with continued research to diversify forms and methods of training towards better meeting needs of society and to expand joint training with the prestigious universities and institutes, the University has also conducted research to build outcome standards of all levels of training. What is more, the question bank for examinations was developed ensuring the accuracy and efficiency. Therefore, the quality of graduated students at all levels has been improved. The scientific research activity of the University has stuck closely to the legal and political life of the country and the need of the University’s training. The application of research results for the operation of the University, especially in teaching, has a positive change.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu, who is also a former Rector of the University, said that the University has gradually overcome many limitations, including improving the quality of lecturers, expanding the training scale, developing training programs meeting the demand of the society and building friendly learning environment. However, Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu also frankly acknowledged that the quality of training and scientific research of the University has not achieved desired results. In order to overcome this negative issue, lecturers need to more focus on professional works and teaching method innovation. Especially, all staff and lecturers of the University must have the spirit of innovation.
Sharing the same opinion, Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed that the demand of high quality human resources of the society is increasing, challenging the training quality of the University. Therefore, such important element should be significantly improved. Setting out some key measures, Minister Le Thanh Long required the University’s leaders to concretize Decision No. 549/QD-TTg (dated 4 April 2013 of the Prime Minister approving the overall Scheme to build Hanoi Law University and Ho Chi Minh Law University as key universities for training law officers) to apply in annual work plan of the University, which helped to clearly assess the implementation results.
Minister Le Thanh Long suggested the University should promote all possibilities and its advantages to create breakthrough solutions to arouse knowledge and enthusiasm of lecturers; to improve the quality of training for students regarding foreign language and practical skills; and to apply information technology and electronic library systems into teaching and scientific research. Additionally, the University needs to develop mechanisms of "spokesman" to promptly have opinions on “breaking” issues of the society from legal science perspective./.
