Effectively implement the regulations about international organized crime

In order to localize the regulations about international organized crime of the international treaty which Vietnam is a member, the 2015 Criminal Code have supplemented and amended many regulations. These supplements and amendments were applauded by the international experts who attend the seminar hosted by the Ministry of Justice on May 23rd, they also shared their experience in implementing the new regulations.
Globalization brings prosperity but also the increasing in crime.
International organized crime are becoming more and more complicated and are growing on a global scale, including Vietnam. In 2008, Vietnam discovered an international money laundring crime with full evidence in Da Nang.
Over the pass 10 years, not only money laudring crimes but also women and children trafficking and corruption are developing. It is very clear that international intergration brings prosperity to millions of people around the world but also made a lot of people criminals or victims of international crimes. The effort of each country is not strong enough to fight these crimes, global cooperation is a must and Vietnam is very proactive in joining force.
The 2015 Criminal Code had some general amendments about international organized crime. Deputy Minister Dinh Trung Tung said that these supplements and amendments meet the requirement of preventing crimes in global intergration, which create a full legal ground for international cooperating in fighting against crimes.
Preventing crimes before they happen
Beside the previous regulations about pre-committed criminals, the 2015 Criminal Code have supplemented the regulations about establishing or joining a criminal group to commit a specific crime. These regulations help building the legal basis to prevent crime, impoving the effective of preventing crimes and coinciding with the Convention against international organized crime.
Guaranteeing the effective implementation of the new changes in the 2015 Criminal Code
Representative of the United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime emphasized that international issues need international solutions and determination. The representative also encouraged Vietnam to promulgate guiding documents for law enforcement agencies as soon as possible.
Representative of Australia Ministry of General Attorney shared that Australia and Vietnam have signed the Agreements on judicial and legal cooperation, Australia also strengthened the cooperation with Vietnam in preventing international economic and social security crime. The representative from Australia hoped Vietnam would continue to join force in preventing these crimes with different mechanisms, including official and unofficial mechanisms.
