Administrative sanctions in press and publication

On 06th January of 2011, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No.02/2011/ND-CP on administrative sanctions in press and publication field. Decree 02 will take effect as of 25th February 2011, replacing Section 1, Section 2, and Article 52, Article 53 of Section 8 of Chapter II of Decree No.56/2006/ND-CP dated 6th June 2006.
Acts that are subject to administrative sanctions under the new regulations include violations in respect of press activities, publishing activities, export and import of media, publications and advertising in media activities and publishing. The two main sanctions applicable to the breaching organizations and individuals are warning and monetary fine. Further, additional penalties such as deprivation of licenses or certificates and confiscation of material evidences may also be applied.
